We trust you have had a wonderful holiday filled with lots of food and time spent relaxing with family and loved ones.
December was filled with many activities in our classrooms. Decorations were hung, trees were decorated with handmade ornaments, and our students spent their last school day of 2011 making winter crafts! One of the highlights was our Christmas Concert. Many thanks go out to all those who spent so much time practicing and preparing to make it a great evening.
The first week back from the holiday break can be challenging. It requires getting back into the routines established during September to December. To ease the transition back to school in 2012, by using the 7 Habits of Happy Kids we can work together to get back into the swing of things:
Habit #1 Be Proactive
Arrive at school on time after eating a good breakfast.
Habit #2 Begin With the End in Mind
Follow school routines and procedures. Focus and Stay on Task.
Habit # 3 Put First Things First
Use agenda to keep track of assignments, school activities and correspondence from your teacher.
Habit # 4 Think Win-Win
Look for 3rd alternatives when working and playing at school.
Habit #5 Seek First to Understand Then to be Understood
Ask questions when you don’t understand, and use your best listening skills when listening to the answer.
Habit #6 Synergize
1+1 can equal 3 if we work together.
Habit #7 Sharpen the Saw
Read for fifteen minutes each night. Stay tuned for and participate in upcoming Student Leadership, and A.P.P.L.E. School activities!
Welcome back and we look forward to watching every member of the Westview Family grow and blossom as a leader over the coming months.
