Spring has sprung here at Westview! May is here and the entire Westview family is excited about all of the events coming up.
May brings our annual grade 6 band trip to Camp Nakanum. Students will get to participate in musical workshops with expert musicians from around Alberta, and get to share in some exciting bonding experiences as well.
Our grade 3’s and 6’s are busy preparing for PAT exams. The writing part A of the Language Arts exam takes place in May, and we can’t wait to hear about the amazingly creative stories, and news articles our students will write using the given prompt.
Also in May the Westview Family will be coming together to make a HUGE school fruit salad. Get ready and bring your favourite fruit to school on May 17th, and our A.P.P.L.E. school leaders will transform it into a gigantic fruit salad for all to share.
We are planning to end our month with Aboriginal awareness week. All week long we will be hearing O’ Canada in the Cree language, and ending our week with an Aboriginal games day!
As we enter the last months of this school year, and summer sports, and year end recitals begin to take up our evenings we encourage you to emphasize to your children the importance of putting first things first and working to keep focused for the remainder of the school year. We realize that with the warmer weather and longer daylight this becomes more challenging. However, May and June are very important and academic performance is crucial because it is the final preparation for the next school year. We look forward to an eventful second last month!
